Di Pirro Tutoring, New York/Los Angeles (‘95-Present)
Founded tutoring company designed to provide the optimal personalized learning experience for students preparing to take standardized tests such as SAT, ACT and Subject Tests as well as for specific subjects, writing skills, and general academic studies. Emphasize building a close, personal relationship with the student and his/her family.
Developed three-pronged approach that teaches the student to understand the test so that s/he knows how to take the test, reviews or teaches pertinent subject matter for that test, and helps student overcome test anxiety as well as any personal challenges while dealing with stress of the testing situation. Created materials which are continually tailored to each student’s individual needs.
Focus on specific subjects, writing skills and general study habits, enabling the student to analyze how s/he learns. Improve overall school performance while increasing confidence by helping students create individual strategies to master the work in the future on their own, eliminating the need for a tutor. Conduct sessions through multiple modalities: in-person, Skype, FaceTime, email, text and phone, so that students who do not need a full session can get “unstuck” in the fastest, most efficient and most economical manner possible.
